iLanguage localizes UUU Electronics (code name) Wireless Control Device

The Challengescreenshot
Leading wireless technology developer UUU Electronics Inc. needed to localize the Graphical User Interface (GUI) of their latest product Nee (code name), which turns your PDA, web pad, or other electronic display into an UUU remote control. Nee provides users with the ability to control office and home entertainment devices from their handheld. The first localization of Nee's GUI for the HP-Compaq iPaq PocketPC was crucial for UUU's further expansion into foreign markets. Nine languages were first targeted - Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean and Japanese - with more to be added later. User manuals and electronic documentation were translated and culturally adapted for non English speaking users to take advantage of the products easy-to-use features. Marketing communication documents were also localized for each target market. The project involved several file formats which included C++ software coding, .RC, PDF, .doc and HTML.

The Solution
UUU selected iLanguage as its unique multi-language localization vendor due to its strong track record in software localization with in house teams of project managers, translators, software engineers and graphic specialists. A production team made up of a project manager and a software localization engineer began working on the project. A group of 12 in-house translators and 2 freelancers translated the material in the target languages, assisted by Computer Aided Translation Memory from Trados. As always the translations went through quality assurance testing , editing and proof reading by a senior iLanguage editor to meet our zero defect policy and assure consistency. Software engineers worked in the localization of the C++ coding included in Nee's GUI and tested its functionality. The localized versions of the Nee application, its electronic documentation and user manuals were sent off to UUU for final testing.

The Result
The project was completed under the allocated budget an in less than two months. The localization of Nee turned out to be a great success for UUU and HP-Compaq. Multilingual users are able to take full advantage of this product in their own language. UUU was very impressed by iLanguage flawless project management, software localization and superior quality translations, in all nine target languages. Both companies are preparing for many new projects together.
